<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Based on the hydrodynamic model of the Charysh River section, the calculation of the direct and inverse problem of determining the total mass flow rate of a conservative pollutant under various scenarios of diffuse pollution was carried out. The calculation of the inverse problem was performed using nonlinear global optimization and Monte Carlo methods based on a polynomial representation of the distribution of the total mass flow rate. A satisfactory agreement between the reconstructed and initial distributions was established, and an estimate of the effective value of the Peclet number was obtained. It was found that the value of the effective Peclet number is within the range of its real change.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>диффузное загрязнение</kwd><kwd>расход загрязнителя</kwd><kwd>обратная задача</kwd><kwd>глобальная оптимизация</kwd><kwd>метод Монте-Карло</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>diffuse pollution</kwd><kwd>pollutant flow rate</kwd><kwd>inverse problem</kwd><kwd>global optimization</kwd><kwd>Monte Carlo method</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Работа выполнена в рамках государственного задания ИВЭП СО РАН (проект № 0306-2021-0002 «Изучение механизмов природных и антропогенных изменений количества и качества водных ресурсов Сибири с использованием гидрологических моделей и информационных технологий»).</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">The work was carried out within the framework of the state assignment of the IWEP SB RAS ((project No 0306-2021-0002) “Studying the mechanisms of natural and anthropogenic changes in the quantity and quality of Siberian water resources using hydrological models and information technologies”).</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Диффузное загрязнение водных объектов: проблемы и решения / Коллективная монография под рук.
