The first issue of the journal «Prirodoobustrojstvo» (Environmental Engineering) was published in 2008. 

The chief scientific editor of the journal was the rector (2006-2014) of the Moscow state university of environmental engineering - Kozlov Dmitry Vyacheslavovich, doctor of technical sciences, professor, honored worker of higher professional education of the Russian Federation, honored worker of water management, honored worker of the agro-industrial complex of Russia.  Author of more than 250 scientific works. The deputy editor-in-chief was Golovanov Alexander Ivanovich - doctor of technical sciences, professor. The field of his scientific activity: land reclamation and restoration, ameliorative soil science, mathematical simulation and forecasting of water, salt, food and thermal regimes of soils during land reclamation.

Since 2019, the chief scientific editor of the journal is Snezhko Vera Leonidovna, doctor of technical sciences, professor, academician of the Russian academy of natural sciences.  Author of more than 150 works on hydraulics, engineering hydrology and hydraulic engineering construction, including 8 monographs, 13 patents and copyright certificates.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief – Benin Dmitry Mikhailovich, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor, corresponding member of the Russian academy of water management sciences. Author of more than 80 works on hydraulics of hydraulic structures and hydraulic means of automation, including 4 monographs, 12 patents and copyright certificates.
